A few clear expectations for using AskOnce.
Last updated 15 October 2026Review briefs before relying on them, and keep secrets out of your projects and sessions.
These terms are effective from 15 October 2026.
AskOnce is provided by Parth Chilwerwar (“we”, “us”). You can contact us at support@askonce.xyz.
AskOnce is a Windows desktop app that shares project context between two coding tools: Claude Code and Codex. A small plugin in each tool gives a new chat a short reference brief of your work in the other tool, gives an open chat the other tool’s newer work with its next message, and sends what happened at the end of each turn to the AskOnce app on the same computer. The AskOnce command-line tool, installed with the app, also has an advanced, opt-in Build and verify feature. The desktop app does not offer it.
The tool integrations may not work with every version of those tools, and they may stop working when those tools change.
AskOnce is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement, to the extent the law allows. We do not promise that AskOnce will be uninterrupted, error-free or compatible with any particular tool, version or project.
The installer is not code-signed. Windows may warn you before running it. Check the published SHA-256 checksum before you run it.
Review briefs. A brief is reference data collected from earlier sessions. It can be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Check it before relying on it, and review anything your coding tool does with it.
Secrets in your projects. AskOnce scans for common secret patterns before it shares a brief, but no scan catches everything. You are responsible for keeping secrets, credentials and personal data out of your projects and sessions, and for deciding which projects to turn sharing on for.
Rights to your content. Use AskOnce only with projects, files and accounts you are allowed to use.
Your computer and accounts. Keep your Windows account, the AskOnce data folder and your tool accounts secure.
Build and verify (command line only). If you use it, read the task, the commands and the files before you approve. Approved commands run with your Windows user’s permissions.
AskOnce works with Claude Code and Codex, which you install, sign in to and pay for separately. When AskOnce places a brief into a Claude Code or Codex session, that brief becomes part of your session with that tool. The tool’s provider processes it under your account and under that provider’s own terms and privacy policy, not these terms. We are not responsible for third-party tools, models or services.
AskOnce is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Anthropic or OpenAI. Claude Code and Codex are trademarks of their respective owners. Their names are used only to identify the tools AskOnce works with.
You keep all rights in your projects and sessions. AskOnce stores what it captures on your computer only. We do not receive it. See the Privacy Policy.
Subject to these terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use AskOnce. You may use it for personal and commercial work. You may not resell or redistribute the app, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows. Open-source components are licensed under their own terms; see the Third-party notices.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, revenue or goodwill, arising from your use of AskOnce, including actions taken by a coding tool after reading a brief. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for AskOnce in the previous 12 months. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, or any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.
You can stop using AskOnce at any time: turn sharing off, remove the plugins from the Tools screen, uninstall the app and delete %APPDATA%\AskOnce. We may stop offering AskOnce or any version of it at any time.
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top and, for material changes, give notice on this website or in the app before they take effect. If you keep using AskOnce after that, the updated terms apply.
These terms are governed by the laws of the place where the provider is established. This does not take away any protection you have under the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live.
